Dedicated to the Cephalonian Marie Valsamachi, an acclaimed theatrical actress in Paris, one of the leading stars of the French theater during the Interwar period. I painted her image based on the portrait by the Polish artist Tade Styka, her glance facing toward a 16th century Venetian map of her beloved Cephalonia.
