Unwaning Light explores the philosophical dimension of Light, particularly as it emanates from the Child in the embrace of the Virgin Mary. The choice of an old Scottish lamp, rather than a more conventional light source, is deliberate; it speaks to the enduring, perhaps even ancient, nature of this illumination. It's not a fleeting spark but a steadfast beacon.

This light transcends mere physical illumination. It embodies hope in the face of despair, truth amidst deception, and solace during hardship. In times of darkness, whether personal or collective, the human spirit yearns for such a light – a guiding compass. The Child, as the bearer of this light, thus becomes a symbol of ultimate truth and unwavering hope, suggesting that even in the most desolate moments, the potential for enlightenment and renewal exists. This painting hints to the human search for meaning and comfort in a world often shrouded in shadows.
