I combined one of the first models of the well-known sewing machine Singer with a ball of thread because their dialogue on the painting totally came in synch with the expression untangling the thread, referring to solving the mystery, a solution to a problem. Technically speaking, it was a challenge to render roundness to the volume of the sewing machine in wax.
