Playing the lyre
Encaustic and coloured pencil on plywood
30 x 24 cm

Despite the intricate beauty of the lyre, what impressed me the most was that a young 13 year old girl embroidered this in 1898. The lyre is protected inside a circle, a perfect shape with no beginning and no end. I painted them to be suspended in the air defying gravity.
