Between two Islands
By merging a Cephalonian ceramic soup tureen, a loom from Skye, mist-shrouded Highland peaks, and a diplomat, I aim to highlight the fabric of culture and identity. This piece emphasises the shared human experience found in material culture, historical figures, and diverse, sometimes atmospheric, landscapes. The encaustic medium enhances the layers of meaning, suggesting the interconnectedness of these elements throughout history, as if seen through the mists of time.
